Timber Frame Cottage Modernisation
It’s not often we get to show you before and after pictures of a total refurb and modernisation project.
The current owners bought this rather small cottage on the Cheshire-Shropshire border in 2017 with a view to extending and modernising. And given the age and possible importance of the property, this was not a sure fire bet that planning permission would be granted and and that the work could be completed on budget.
At the beginning of the project this agricultural workers cottage had a series of very small rooms, antiquated kitchen and bathroom, and pig sty.
At the end, the homeowners have a stunning family home, with space, light, amazing views stretching from the Peckforton Hills to Pennines, a kitchen that perfectly matched the modern country cottage vibe and a bathroom you would want to languish in for hours. And that bedroom window – that incredible window with a clear line of sight across half of Cheshire.
The owners, who did this project to create their forever home, are only selling because COVID-19 has landed them with a lifestyle and location change that means they have to move south. Bad news for them, great news for The Cottage’s next caretaker.
